Something that I would like to talk about is technique, which is a subject that can apply to any other subject in terms of paddling, in my opinion.

Technique in general is something we can always work on and it is changing with us and not just with our age. Of course our bodies are getting older and we start using different muscles, but the awareness of our movements could be an infinite method for us to continue learning until our hearts stop beating!

The race in NYC was a perfect example and reminder to me to keep working on my awareness. I had an opportunity to spend time watching Greg's stroke for almost 2 hours and I realized how much more is out there for me to learn. Most of the time we all see these paddling heroes and we say "it looks so easy." The reality is that these heroes are constantly working on their technique. We are lazy to take our time to make it happen- we want immediate success! To me, it looks smooth and perfect because that person took time to work on his/her own stroke and probably still does!

Of course there is a good amount of basic stuff to learn or copy from the experts or from others for the foundation of the technique, but there is a point when we are on our own- we have to leave our mothers house and find our own personal technique to combine with the foundation and the effort is figuring out what works for ourselves!
